Chapter 2 - The noble qualities of Daniel

Chapter 2
 The noble qualities of Daniel

Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.(Daniel 12:2,3)

The noble qualities of Daniel

  1. Daniel was a prince and a noble man. He proved his nobility through his actions. Those who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord are given the privilege to become sons of the Most High God. Children of God must remember that they are kings and priests and live a holy and noble life
  2. Daniel and his friends were very particular about keeping their identity and holiness. Although he was brought there as a slave, he decided in his heart not to defile himself with the food and drinks available in the palace and proceeded to act accordingly without fear of repercussions. Will you fearlessly stand for purity and godliness in this wicked world? Or, will you be swayed by your friends and worldly people to imitate them?
  3. Daniel was a humble person in front of God and the people around. God lifts up the humble In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”  Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.(1 Pet 5:5,6)
  4.  Daniel faced crises in life with prayer. Nebuchadnezzar ordered all wise men in the nation to be killed as they could not interpret his dreams. Daniel gathered his three friends and prayed for a solution all night. The same night. God revealed the meaning of king's dream to Daniel. In later years, Daniel used to fast and pray for himself and his people.
  5. Daniel used to pray to God and confess his sins and the sins of the people. God would answer his prayers on all those occasions. We must also confess our sins in prayer and obtain holiness in the sight of God.
  6. Daniel was faithful in all spiritual and material affairs. Hence even his enemies could not find any fault in him.
  7. The most important factor in Daniel's life was his unshakeable faith in God. He could produce the same kind of faith in the hearts of his friends and even his enemies. When he was thrown into the den of lions, this was what King  Darius asked: "Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver your from the lions?" Daniel shut the mouth of lions by his faith. How beautiful is the example of putting total trust in God in adverse circumstances!
  8. Daniel used to read the Scriptures diligently and understand the secrets contained in them. Thus he could learn the plans of God for the future of his people. That was the secret by which he could shine as a brilliant, wise and strong leader. He learned that the Babylonian captivity of Jews would end after 70 years from the Scripture passages.
  9. Daniel was filled with the Spirit of God. Heathen kings described Daniel as a person with the "Spirit of the Holy God." Daniel had a noble heart, great wisdom and could interpret dreams because he was filled with the Holy Spirit. Filling of the Holy Spirit is essential for a victorious life.
  10. Danel possessed a blessed hope. He entered eternal rest with God's promise: " For you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days." He had the definite assurance of the resurrection of the dead and the rewards of the righteous.
